Section 3. Demonstration of Scientific Judgment and Recognition

In addition to research experience demonstrated by publication, scientific judgment in the broader concepts, issues and routine unpublished company reports and submissions must be demonstrated. Demonstration of scientific recognition is also an important element, and may take many forms: forms such as, election to and participation in professional societies, invited papers, seminars and workshops, or awards.
3.1

In general, evidence of scientific judgment will result from participation in committees, task forces, or other groups. These team efforts may address issues that span specialties outside toxicologic pathology but within toxicology, safety and/or risk assessment, or involve problems of national or international significance. Credit may be given for participation in science advisory boards, inter-industry or inter-agency task forces; interdisciplinary industry or agency working groups; review committees; internal committees within a company, university or agency; and professional society and industrial trade association committees that consider substantive relevant scientific issues. Individual efforts may qualify as demonstration of scientific judgment. Credit may be given for:

  1. Writing a book or review article. In contrast to publications in Section 2, these works must reflect broad based judgment factors in their contribution to toxicologic pathology.
  2. Developing innovative teaching or research programs distinct from traditional teaching efforts and research paradigms.

3.2 Provide a list of membership. Indicate when you were elected and list your activities as an officer or committee member.
3.3 Provide the title of invited papers or seminars and the date and location of the presentations. More weight will be given to invited papers at national or international meetings then to seminars.
